Working at Height

Working At Height: Safety, Training, and Expertise

At MPE Staffordshire, we grasp the paramount importance of safety and compliance when engaging in work at height. The Working at Height Regulations 2005 categorise working at height as any work in a location at or below ground level, including gaining access to or departing from such places during work, except through a permanent workplace staircase.

Prioritising Safety

To ensure that work at height is conducted safely and efficiently, it is essential to have the appropriate level of training and access equipment in place to minimise potential risks. Whilst we recognise that certain tasks necessitate working at height, our objective
is to provide secure methods of accomplishing these tasks through our highly trained staff.

Our Objective

Our primary objective is to ensure the safety and efficiency of our team when working at height. We give precedence to eliminating the risk of falling by employing suitable access equipment and offering secure working at height solutions to safeguard our employees.

Using Rope Access

In challenging or difficult-to-access areas, we employ rope access techniques to carry out electrical work. Our trained personnel are proficient in rope access methods, allowing us to safely access and work in areas that might be otherwise inaccessible.

Taking Action

MPE Staffordshire has made substantial investments in working at height training and equipment. Our staff members are highly skilled and trained in this discipline, including rope rescue training to address potential incidents at height. We hold accreditation from IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) and are qualified as Personal Fall Protection Equipment Inspectors (PFPE), enabling us to inspect our working at height equipment, including harnesses and rigging gear. Additionally, our climbers and rescuers maintain current medical certificates for working at height.

Rescue Plan Requirement

In compliance with the Work at Height Regulations 2005 and HSE guidance 401 (rev 2), we understand the necessity need for a comprehensive rescue plan for emergencies when working at height. We understand that relying solely on emergency services for rescues may not be ideal, as they may lack the specific skills and equipment required for efficient and safe rescues. Our team is equipped with the necessary tools and expertise to execute effective rescue plans when needed.

At MPE Staffordshire, our commitment to safety, training, and expertise ensures that working at height is carried out with the highest level of precision and compliance.
